Triumvirate

Oh wow, I've been completely sucked into [livejournal.com profile] triumvirate. It's not fan fiction, per se, but rather a Harry Potter RPG on LiveJournal. There are many, many characters and plot threads, but I've just been concentrating on those involving Remus and Severus. The story started out leaning towards Remus/Sirius, but you could tell that something was something start to build between Remus and Severus. And, from where I am now, I'd say Remus/Severus is getting closer all the time, with Bill/Sirius looming in the near future. I started by going to the archives section and finding the beginning of the game in 2003. I'm currently in 2004, and the war is definitely heating up. Occasionally, the characters will also post in their own personal journals, in addition to the community journal, so be sure to check out the character archives, as well. In addition to fighting against the forces of Voldemort, the Hogwarts staff is frantically trying to prepare the students for war (and for a life after war), Severus is trying to brew a potion that will stop the transformation of werewolves completely, and Harry, Ron, and Hermione are researching a spell to defeat Voldemort once and for all. There are other plots, as well, but I just haven't been following them.

Home's the Farthest Way by ReeraTheRed is an excellent romance between Remus and Severus (Harry Potter), but it's not slash. The war is over. Voldemort has been defeated, and a cure for Lycanthropy has been discovered. It has been used with good results in America, but the Ministry of Magic wants Remus Lupin to be the first British werewolf to try the cure. As he is a war hero, decorated with an Order of Merlin, the Ministry believes his acceptance will encourage other werewolves to come forward and try the cure, as well. Unfortunately, Delores Umbridge seems to be in charge of the program, and this makes Remus and his friends nervous. Even with all of them watching, however, something goes wrong with the potion. Remus survives, but he has been transformed into a woman. The process cannot be reversed without also negating the cure, however, so Remus agrees to remain a woman. I really enjoyed the understated quality of this piece, as Remus adjusts to becoming female and her new, stronger feelings for Severus. There is danger, as well, as not all werewolves are happy about the cure. One pack leader, in particular, is dead set against it and threatens not only Remus' chances for employment, but her very life.

New York Minute by [livejournal.com profile] ellid is a beautiful Remus/Severus (Harry Potter) piece set during the tragic events of September 11, 2001, and their immediate aftermath. Remus is in New York for a conference when the attacks hit, and is believed dead after Minerva receives a viewing sphere that appears to show him jumping to his death after giving up his broom to a young witch. Severus is sent to claim the body. Unbeknownst to anyone, Severus and Remus had decided to attempt a romantic relationship the night before Remus left for the conference. Ellid writes a very believable Severus/Remus pairing. These two have been through the wars, but now they want to enjoy life. New York Minute is one of the longer stories in a series called "Motherless Child." (The actual story "Motherless Child" is a WIP, but all the stories are within the same universe.) Go, read, enjoy. :-)

Wicked Game

The Wicked Game trilogy by JayKay deals with the events of Prisoner of Azkaban and their aftermath in the lives of Severus and Remus. (Naturally! :-) ) Remus works hard to rebuild a relationship with Severus that had been destroyed by Sirius Black's prank back when they all went to school together. Unfortunately, Black's return makes all his work for naught, and Severus reveals his lycanthropy to the school at large, forcing Remus to leave the best job he's ever had. Remus decides to leave the Wizarding world, as well, and creates a life for himself in the Muggle world. Unfortunately, Death Eaters come looking for him to recruit him to Voldemort's side. His refusal results in the loss of his home and very nearly his life. Rescued by Severus (who had been looking for him), Remus finds himself in the Potion Master's home where he recuperates from the attack. I'm sure you can see where this is heading. ;-) Very nice series. The second in the trilogy is mainly told as a series of Owls between Remus and Severus while they are apart during the Harry's 4th year at Hogwarts. In the third, Sirius arrives on the scene once again, but Remus is determined that nothing and no one will come between him and Severus (his mate) again.

Oh, and if anyone else can recommend more Severus/Remus stories, I would much appreciate it. Thanks! (I'm always on the lookout for Duncan/Methos stories, too.)

Always

Ooooh, I've been reading the best series lately! (Severus/Remus, of course, as I seem to get stuck in certain pairings for weeks on end.) Anyway, the series is called Always by Geri. This series is an epic tale, as it encompasses not only Severus and Remus' lives as students at Hogwarts, but also the end of the war against Voldemort and is continuing with the years after the war. It seems that peace time is not really all that peaceful. ;-) At first, the story is told mostly from Severus' POV, but as the series progresses, other characters' stories are told, as well. Remus is just adorable in this story, but it's interesting how accomplished he is at manipulating even the Slytherins in order to get his own way. Very sneaky, our werewolf. Severus, of course, realizes when he's being manipulated, but he puts up with it because he loves Remus. Awww.

Oh wow, while trolling through Harry Potter archives, I discovered a pairing that I just can't get enough of: Remus/Severus. The Potions Master and the Werewolf. *sigh* The two are just so well matched! Anyway, I found this cool series called Tea and Chocolate by Ashinae and Your Cruise Director. It all begins at Grimmauld Place after Sirius has fallen through the Veil and Molly Weasley coerces Severus into taking tea up to Remus, who has hardly left his room at all since the night Sirius fell. Both of them are surprised at how easy it is for them to share conversation, and Severus is shocked by how much he tells Remus. As the series progresses, so does their relationship. Severus learns what love is supposed to feel like and Remus finds a reason to live.

Ack, I can't believe I've fallen into another fandom... *sigh* I've been sucked into the Remus/Sirius relationship, and I can't get out. Of course, most of the stories have turned out to be really depressing, so I've been especially attracted to alternate universes. Case in point--Stealing Harry by Sam shows us what might have happened if Sirius Black had been prevented from reaching Peter Pettigrew in the alley by Remus, who had taken a wrong turn. (In this case, Lucius Malfoy confronted him, instead, and was sent to Azkaban for his troubles.) Harry was still sent to his Muggle relatives for his safety, but Sirius and Remus have been close by watching over him. When they discover just how poorly he's being treated, however, Sirius takes matters into his own hands and steals Harry away. Dumbledore only agrees to allow Sirius and Remus custody, however, if Severus Snape also has a hand in his upbringing. Of course, Sirius doesn't react very well, but he does agree. Voldemort is still after Harry, so they have to be very careful, but still I think this world is less dark than the original. Love the interaction between Sirius and Remus. ;-)
